Still good fishing in Guatemala

This fishing report is for the week ending 03-18-06 and is prepared by The Great Sailfishing Company which operates out of the new Pez Vela Marina,Guatemala. The fishing grounds for this past week has stayed in the 20 to 35 miles range with calm days and fairly flat seas for the first part of the day and with late afternoon winds causing lite to moderate chop. This week saw most boats releasing sails in the mid twenties into the mid double digits on conventional. Still great fishing by most anyones standards but it did cool down compared to last weeks sizzling results. We at the Great Sailfishing Company hosted several parties / day charters including the Dr.Cimino party that released 35 sails on Friday and 33 yesterday(note:they were hooking-up most of their own sails). At the first of the week Sunday March 12th, the McFadden party released 77 on conventional which made their total over two days 136 on conventional and another 6 on the fly.Yesterday one of our day charters released 17 on the fly fishing on the Tranquility and our charter on the Stragos released 41 on conventional, also on Saturday March 18th.For more info. contact us at greatsailfishing@yahoo.com or visit our website at www.greatsailfishing.com and check out our free fly-fishing special for April and May.
